Upperhand High School and Post Secondary Counselling is Calgary-based and provides direct services to clients as well as online services to those outside of the immediate area.
Wayne has over twenty years of experience working with youth and adults in a variety of capacities: as a teacher, social worker, facilitator, academic coach, and counselor; and in a number of different countries including Canada, Mali, Czech Republic, Turkey, United Arab Emirates, The Bahamas, and Thailand.
Besides working in more traditional classroom settings, he has also worked in a distance-education capacity and has developed experiential education programs for a variety of learning institutions. Wayne is highly committed to supporting students and adults to achieve their academic and career goals.
Lawrence has been assisting students to plan their futures and reach their potential for over thirty years as a teacher and academic counsellor. By interacting with students and their families, he has witnessed growth in students’ decision-making, self-esteem and individual responsibility as they make choices regarding their long term-educational and career goals. As a father Lawrence helped his own four children successfully navigate their post-secondary paths through the maze of post-secondary options.
Lawrence also has global educational experience as a presenter in intercultural professional development workshops in Guyana, Ghana, Kenya and Uganda through the Canadian Teachers’ Federation and the Alberta Teachers’ Association.
